Our leather comes from a project working with Masaai women on the slopes of Mount Meru in northern Tanzania. It is a project working on the prevention of climate change by supporting the women to learn the art of leather tanning instead of cutting down trees to sell for charcoal. The bag is first woven into a diamond pattern and then the black leather is added by Fidea in the tailoring department. It has a short leather strap with a wooden tassel trim and the inside is make of natural linen with a small pocket that is trimmed with the woven fabric.
